Little update from ABC Hurricane in UK

20/03/2015 in General

Due to other events, our blog has been inactive for the last 6-7 weeks and since that time a lot of events happened, like the ongoing hunger strike in Greece by different prisoners, against C TYPE prisons, for the release of CCF family and friends, release of Savvas Xiros, etc.

There’s a hunger strike rebellion taking place right now in the UK immigration detention centres. Race and immigration are hot election topics right now in UK, time to stop fascism! In Bristol, Emma Sheppard got sentenced to two years for sabbing three police cars at new year with home-made stingers. Today there’ll be a demo in Bristol for all the people on hungerstrike in the immigration centres and others. On the 21st there’s an anti-fascist demo in Newcastle against the usual nazi racist bastards. In High Wycombe, after the cops were cleared of killing Habib ‘Paps’ Ullah, there were nights of mass vandalism against the ruling, No Justice – No Peace!

In Cardiff, there’s a demo on March 24th by South Wales anarchists, against ‘Marco’ Jacobs undercover police officer’s abuse and supporting the court date of those who are making a civil action against the UK State about the case. There’s also a demo in London the next day at the Royal Courts of (in)Justice. Statewatch released a PDF about undercover policing worth reading here.

We’re going to be updating our blog a bit more infrequently, as our techie is AWOL, and as a group we’re dispersed and busy ticking over with various projects. We’re working with a few different prisoners at the moment, and it’ll be a case of as and when we have stuff to report and comment on.

Solidarity means attack!

Athens: Demo in solidarity with the hunger strikers in Greek prisons

19/03/2015 in Prison Struggle

On Tuesday evening, March 17th, a demo in solidarity with hunger strikers in Greek prisons was held in downtown Athens. The march of around 1,500-2,000 people started from Monastiraki Square, passed through Athinas and Stadiou Streets, Syntagma Square and ended at Propylaea. After the end of the demo barricades were erected around Exarchia, clashes erupted with cops and luxury cars were set ablaze.

Arson attacks on ATMs in solidarity with the comrades on hunger strike (Greece)

06/12/2014 in Prison Struggle

via actforfreedomnow:

Sunday night, November 30th 2014 we burned 5 ATMs, as a minimal gesture of solidarity with anarchist Nikos Romanos, on hunger strike since November 10:

– One of the Banco Nacional in Aghias Sofis street, in Vyronas district.

– One of Alphabank between Karaoli and Dimitriou streets, in Vyronas district.

– One of the Banco Nacional in Varnva Square, in Pagrati district.

– One of the Banco Nacional in via Formionos, in Pagrati district.

– One of Alphabank in Kaisariani district.

This was just a warning. In the case of our comrade’s demand not being fulfilled, all of you will become targets.
The struggle continues.

Strength to the hunger strikers Nikos Romanos, Yannis Michailids, Andreas-Bourzoukos Dimitris and Dimitris Politis.

International Call for Revolutionary Solidarity with Anarchist Nikos Romanos on hunger strike since 10/11/14 (Greece)

21/11/2014 in Prison Struggle

via Act for Freedom Now!:

Imprisoned anarchist Nikos Romanos has been on hunger strike since Monday November 10 demanding his right to educational day release from prison. From 17th November comrade Giannis Mihailidis has also been on hunger strike in solidarity with his comrade.
Their struggle is also ours, whatever they decide we are with them as we have been from the start. From the moment of their capture the comrades have vindicated their anarchist individualities with passion and dignity throughout the ordeals reserved for them in the cesspits of the State. For us of act for freedom now every translated word, paragraph and page expresses our rage and desire to give a strong flaming hug to the comrades held hostage in the hell-holes of the state. Distance is irrelevant when we speak of solidarity. That is why we are calling, as of now, for international revolutionary solidarity for Nikos.

We will not leave any comrade alone in the hands of the state.

*That night we kept our eyes fixed on the horizon and saw many falling stars drawing their own chaotic paths. And we counted them over and over, we made wishes, calculated the odds. We knew that our desire for a free life had to step over all that oppresses us, murders us, destroys us, so we dived into the void just like the shooting stars we were observing. Since then innumerable stars have fallen, perhaps it’s time for our star to fall, who knows? If we had the answers ready, we wouldn’t have become what we are, but selfish bastards who would teach people how to become rodents that eat each other as they do today. At least we still remain implacable and stubborn like the people of our kind. And those of us who closed their eyes in pain and travelled far continue to keep their eyes stuck on that night sky we also observed.
And they watch us fall, beautiful and shining stars.

Now it’s our turn.

Now, without hesitation, we fall.

As of Monday, November 10th, 2014 I begin a hunger strike without taking a step back, with anarchy forever in my heart.

Responsible for each day of hunger strike, and whatever happens from this point forward, is the prison board, namely the prosecutor Nikolaos Pimenidis, the director Charalabia Koutsomichali as well as the social work assistant.

To all the armchair “fighters”, professional humanists, “sensitive” intellectual and spiritual personages: good riddance to you in advance.

Asphyxiating for a breath of freedom.

Last spring, I sat university entrance exams from inside the prison and got admitted to a faculty in Athens. According to their laws, since September 2014, I am eligible for educational furloughs to regularly attend classes from the beginning of the term.

As expected, my requests have fallen on deaf ears, something that makes me claim these prison furloughs using my body as a barricade.

At this point, it feels necessary to clarify my political rationale in order to reveal the context behind my choice.

In addition to being instruments of control and repression, the laws are also used for maintenance of balances or what is otherwise called social contracts, reflect socio-political correlations and partially form certain positions for the conduct of the social war.

This is why I want to make my choice as clear as possible: I am not defending their legitimacy; on the contrary, I use a political blackmail to gain breaths of freedom from the devastating condition of incarceration.

At this point, a question is raised as regards our claims in a state of captivity. It should be taken for granted that there have always been, and will always be, contradictions under such conditions. For example, even though we are fanatical enemies of all laws, we participated in the massive hunger strike of prisoners against the new bill for maximum security prisons; many comrades have similarly negotiated over the conditions of their confinement (“illegitimate” pretrial detentions, objection to strip search, stay at a particular prison) using their body as a barricade, and it’s a good thing they did. Text about anarchist hunger and thirst striker Antonis Stamboulos by an Initiative of prisoners from A wing of Korydallos prison (Greece)

12/10/2014 in Letters from Prisoners

inter arma received and translated:

Anarchist Antonis Staboulos has started a hunger and thirst strike because although there was a court order dictating that he should serve his pre-trial detention in Korydallos prison, he was illegally transferred to Larissa prison. This tactic used by the ministry of justice is not an isolated event. It is part of an overall vindictive strategy against those prisoners who are considered dangerous or are accused of being members of armed organizations. It’s the first glimpse of the type C prisons and of the imposed isolation from the prisoner’s family. We stand next to Anarchist Antonis Stamboulos and we warn the ministry that the death of a prisoner caused by a hunger and thirst strike will have consequences that they cannot predict. Let everyone claim his/her responsibilities. Strength to the hunger and thirst striker Antonis Staboulos.

Note: Antonis Stamboulos ended his hunger and thirst strike on 11 October. He wrote a statement explaining his decision which is being translated and will circulate soon.

An update on the health of the comrades on hunger strike in mexico via cna mexico:

A Carlos López, Fernando Bárcenas, Mario Gonzáles y Abraham Cortés
