Police car arson in solidarity with anarchist prisoners. Communique from ‘Proletarian Solidarity Cell / Network Revolutionary Cells’ (Czech Republic)

via 325:

In solidarity with anarchist prisoners all over the world, on the morning of Saturday 30th August 2014, we made an arson attack on a police car, which stood in the street in front of the station Truhlářova in Ústí nad Labem. The event has become a fragment of a mosaic of solidarity activities during the International Week of Anarchist Prisoners. It was announced for 23 to 30 August 2014.

Francesco Puglisi, André Mazurek, Yiannis Dimitrakis, Olegovich Igor Kharchenko, Rebecca Rubin, Bill Dunne, Nikos Maziotis and many others, known and unknown. They were imprisoned for their anarchist attitudes and actions. Our arson attack against the police is a solidarity message sent to all of them. The communication of this direct action is simple. In the ongoing class war the State puts in jail the people when they actively resist. A good sign of solidarity with the imprisoned comrades is therefore continuing the resistance. In opposition to the same goals with the same means that our friends often chose before being placing in the cells of the State.

There is no doubt that the purpose of prison is not only isolation and the subjection of detainees. In a broader sense, it is their task to influence those who survive outside of a prison cell. They intimidate every resisting person and try to break his/her will to fight. Anarchist groups around the world show that to achieve this goal is virtually impossible. While the States imprison many anarchists, others -despite the risks- continue to practice rebellion. Our arson attack in Ústí nad Labem is a powerful reminder that suffocating our friends behind the prison walls will not smother our libertarian will to resist. On the contrary, every act of State repression against the anarchist movement recreates other rebellious passions. They manifest themselves in a variety of direct actions and will continue until all the comrades leave prison.

A communique about the disciplinary wings of Korydallos prison by Dimitris Politis (Greece)

via inter arma:

In the middle of July, I was transferred to the state hospital of Nikea for some medical examinations. There, given the nature of that examination and due to the police presence during the procedure- which was demanded by the doctor himself, I refused to be examined and I returned to prison. On the 6th of August, I was called to a disciplinary council on the charge of disobedience because I refused to execute the command of my police escort. By entering the office of the commanding prison officer with the intention of telling the prosecutor that I have nothing to state and then leave, I sat opposite her and she addressed me saying, “stand up”. I didn’t pay attention to what she said and, while I was telling to her to get serious, she told me again with an arrogant smile to stand up. Then, I crumpled the piece of paper where the charges were written and I threw it in her face. I was obviously standing before another arrogant and misled person, who was under the illusion that she owned the world. I was facing another expendable and petty pawn that was under the illusion that all prisoners are inferior to it. So, in order for her to restore her wounded ego, she “punished” me with a five-day restriction penalty in a “special detention wing”. About the anarchist prisoner solidarity week

“In summer 2013 members of several ABC groups discussed the necessity of introducing an International Day for Anarchist Prisoners. Given there are already established dates for Political Prisoners Rights Day or Prison Justice Day, we found it important to emphasise the stories of our comrades as well. Many imprisoned anarchists will never be acknowledged as ‘political prisoners’ by formal human-rights organisations, because their sense of social justice is strictly limited to the capitalist laws which are designed to defend the State and prevent any real social change. At the same time, even within our individual communities, we know so little about the repression that exists in other countries, to say nothing of the names and cases involving many of our incarcerated comrades.”

The call for an annual Week for Anarchist Prisoners on August 23-30 was put with the 23rd as a starting point, because on that very day in 1927, the Italian-American anarchists Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti were executed in prison. They were convicted of murdering two men during an armed robbery at a shoe factory in South Braintree, Massachusetts, United States. Their arrest was a part of a bigger anti-radical campaign led by the American government. The State’s evidence against the two was almost totally non-existent and many people still today believe that they were punished for their strong anarchist beliefs. Given the nature and diversity of anarchist groups around the globe, a week of common action was proposed rather than a single campaign on a specific day, making it easier for groups to be able to organise an event within a longer target period. In response to this call, we formed a new group during the Week of Anarchist Prisoners called ABC Hurricane. Continue reading “About the anarchist prisoner solidarity week”

Quick prison news round-up for the last few months (UK & Ireland)

Attack against Greek consulate in (Zürich,Switzerland) / Angriff gegen griechische Konsulat in (Zürich, Schweiz)

via 325:

We attacked the Greek consulate in Zürich on September 8 as a delayed contribution to the international days of solidarity for anarchist prisoners. The official representation of the Greek state in Zürich was chosen for two reasons. First of all because Nikos Maziotis (militant of the Revolutionary Struggle) was recently arrested in Greece after a manhunt through Athens and after having being shot in the shoulder. This arrest follows a campaign by the state and the media in which Nikos and Pola Roupa have been declared as top fugitives and a huge bounty has been declared for their arrests. Despite him being arrested the media campaign aiming to negate his political identity continues.

Secondly because recently in Greece a reform of the prisons was declared which will massively worsen the situation of all fighting prisoners in Greece in the time to come. The reform is aimed to match the Greek prisons with the prisons of isolation that exist in the rest of Europe. Currently Domokos prison (which lies in the middle of nowhere) is being emptied of prisoners so that it can be transformed to a type C prison (with the most severe prison conditions). It’s to be expected that the reform will be executed shortly. Continue reading “Attack against Greek consulate in (Zürich,Switzerland) / Angriff gegen griechische Konsulat in (Zürich, Schweiz)”

Solidarity with Karl Häggroth, imprisoned animalist comrade (Sweden)

via 325:

Our comrade Karl was sentenced with Ebba to prison for animal rights activities, send him all the support you can! You can also send him magazines and books! Karl is a strong anti-racist, anti-fascist, anti-capitalist, animal-rights warrior who did what he could to combat the disgusting fur industry in Sweden and other oppressions. Situation is tough for the prisoner so we urge people to send support. Postcards, letters, etc.

‘That Which Stagnates Rots’ by imprisoned comrade Carlos ‘Chivo’ López (Mexico)

via waronsociety:

For whomever has decided to pass from words to insurrectionary action, and carry this in every scope of life, it is necessary to prioritize engagement by continual reflection; and in this way reconsider again and again your thoughts, tools, and strategies of fighting. This is in order to not fall into the passive dynamics which are sterile and counterproductive when it is time to attack.

From here comes our necessity to revisit important themes that, because we do not consider them something fixed, should always be up for debate and discussion.

In a manner of personal capacity and humility I take the work of re-positing what is understood by informality and insurrectionary anarchism (in a brief manner) with the intention that those who can identify can contribute; and from their place, give it more depth and debate. At the same time I will make a small critique towards those anarchist currents who have been determined to treat us as “pyromaniacs without ideas”. Twelve-hour riot after detainee dies at Morton Hall Immigration Removal Centre (Lincolnshire, UK)

A brief spark of revolt was seen from those incarcerated in Morton Hall Immigration Removal Centre near Lincoln after a Bengali man, who had been in the prison only three days, died on September 5.

Disorder broke out at breakfast on September 6 and staff were forced to flee, withdrawing to a “place of safety”.

A ‘Tornado’ team, or ‘national tactical response group’, was called into the prison to quell the riot, which lasted all day.

Statement from anarchist prisoner Michael Kimble (USA)

Via Anarchy-Live

This statement was originally issued on June 10 2014

Rebel greetings,

My name is Michael Kimble and I’m a 49 year old, black, gay anarchist being held kaptive by the state of Alabama. I’ve been active for over 20 years in the struggle for a better world. I’ve suffered and weathered all the hate, brutality, and slander the state has thrown at me. I’ve been in rebellion against the institutions of capitalist patriarchy, racism, and coercion my whole life, but didn’t realize it. My rebellion began with the institution of the family.

From an early age I’ve had a strong distaste for authority, starting with my family, who could not reconcile the fact that I was not the “normal” male child, but a somewhat effeminate child. This distaste only became stronger as I became older and ventured out into the larger world. Everywhere I turned I encountered authority figures who constantly attempted to force me to conform to their notion of what I should be and what I should desire. The same as my family. SOCPA 7 Solidarity Night – Food & Music Fundraiser (UK)

via Bristol ABC:

About the case:

Inside the walls of Europe’s largest animal testing laboratory, Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS), over 100,000 animals are imprisoned and more than 500 animals are killed every day.

In 2005, in an attempt to stop organisers that were successfully undermining the future of animal testing in Europe, UK Government introduced two new laws; SOCPA 145 and 146, part of the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act. These laws only apply to antivivisection campaigners and turn minor public order breaches into serious criminal offences.

In 2012-2013 seven people were raided, arrested and charged for conspiracy to commit SOCPA. Defendants face a two month trial in September 2014 and up to five years in prison if convicted.

Help us fundraise for their court & legal costs. Don’t let them face this alone!
