Operation Pandora: Democracy imprisons 7 more anarchists (Spain)

28/12/2014 in Prison Society

via contrainfo:

On December 16, Operation Pandora was unleashed. The State’s security forces burst into different houses and squats in Barcelona and Madrid, and eleven anarchist comrades were kidnapped.

This kidnapping—and it couldn’t have been done any other way—was coordinated with the media, who helped justify and legitimate it with heart and soul, spreading the news that the police had carried out an operation against international anarchist terrorism. This kidnapping of eleven comrades set off a multitude of rallies and demonstrations that same day in different cities—Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, and Zaragoza, for example—thousands of people coming out in solidarity with the kidnapped comrades and showing rage and hatred towards the State’s new repressive operation against the libertarian movement.

Two days later, on December 18, the news came to light that Judge Javier Gómez Bermúdez, with an ample repressive history behind him, ordered pretrial detention without bail for seven of the eleven comrades, in so doing giving greater media and political justification for the repressive campaign. We have to remember that this new repressive operation is closely related with the still-open repressive case against the anarchists Mónica and Francisco, who have already spent a year in pretrial custody, in isolation, and to remember that the torturer Javier Gómez Bermúdez was also responsible for imprisoning those comrades.

The persecutor Javier Gómez Bermúdez justifies the pretrial detention of these seven comrades with such compelling reasons as “there are indications that support the hypothesis that they are part of coordinated anarchist groups with terrorist ends” and that “they seriously upset the public peace.” However, as anarchists, we are not going to play the game the System imposes on us, the game of concepts, assessments, guilt, innocence or “investigation” processes; as anarchists, we recognize neither their Justice, nor their Law, nor, of course, their Public Peace; not only do we not recognize them, but we fight them and we declare war on them without quarter. We’re not concerned with what our kidnapped comrades did or didn’t do or say; we don’t recognize the categories of “innocent” or “guilty” imposed by the System, categories that only make sense when recognizing and legitimizing the Law and the Judicial System. Police arrest at least 15 in raids against anarchists (Spain)

17/12/2014 in Prison Society

At least 15 people were arrested during raids in Spain on December 17th for being part of an “anarchist terror organization” in what the Spanish government is calling ‪#‎OperacionPandora‬.

At quarter past five, an operation consisting of Mossos d’Esquadra mobilized to carry out an operation against the Libertario movement. So far, the Mossos have raided the Kasa de la Montanya, the Libertarian Ateneo de Sant Andreu, the Anarchist Ateneo de Poble Sec and several private homes.

On orders from the Spanish National Court, in an operation ordered by Judge Javier Gómez Bermúdez, the agents have raided the Kasa de la Muntanya, a squat which this year celebrates twenty five years of occupation. They busted the main entrance of the house to gain access while a police helicopter with spotlights hovered over the building. The twenty inhabitants of the house had to retreat into the gym whilst the police forced entry into the building. At the time of the police raid, the building had two children aged five and six years. The Mossos separated one of the kids from his father on the ground floor.

The police confiscated all mobile phones, laptops and computer devices that were found on the premises. Agents seized all types of documentation, while numerous electric home workshop tools were also confiscated in order to help the police construct their narrative.

About fifty people installed a roadblock on Travessera de Dalt, in a spontaneous act of solidarity with the Kasa de la Muntanya, until riot police dispersed them a few minutes after eight o’clock. Subsequently the solidarity group moved to the Plaza Lesseps and called for more protests.

From the outside of the house located in the neighborhood of Gràcia district Salut, witnesses heard several firecrackers and said they could see in lights of several flashlights inside the building. The police operation is made up of agents from the Information Division of the Mossos d’Esquadra, accompanied by a large number of members of the Mobile Brigade which, among other tasks, formed a perimeter around the whole area and denied any access to the home.

Update about Gabriel Pombo da Silva – EN/ES/FR/GR (Spain)

22/08/2014 in Prison Struggle

Via 325:
(Spanish, French and Greek versions below)

On Wednesday, August 6, 2014, comrade Gabriel Pombo Da Silva finally came out of provisional isolation (which had been set in A Lama on June 17) to be transferred to the prison of Topas (Salamanca). He arrived there on Friday, August 8th and is now in a single cell.

However, we were notified again about the intervention on all communications (written, telephone and visits). The prison administration also has an arsenal of measures to punish, abuse and get revenge on those, like Gabriel, Francisco, Monica and many others, who refuse to lower their heads and submit.

These include repeated attempts to break relationships and the difficult (and for some impossible) contact with the outside, or by separating him from his friends by imposing wing transfers- just like that which happened only 3 days after his arrival in Topas prison. Read the rest of this entry →
